Pan, bowls and more are beginning to pile up on the shelves in the church basement. Please take a few minutes to take a look and see if there are things that belong to you. CCW Post Convention News
POST CONVENTION NEWS – The New Ulm Diocesan CCW held their 58th Annual Convention at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, on April 29,2017. The NUDCCW, an affiliate of the National Council of CCW, consists of Catholic Woman in the 75 parishes covering a 15-county area known as the New Ulm Diocese. We are Catholic women united in prayer, study, and serviceThe convention presented many opportunities for growth… spiritually, educationally, and socially. Several area women. The theme of the day was “Proclaim the Word of God”. The keynote speaker was Cari Donaldson. In Cari’s remarkable tale of her conversion and the peace she’s found as a Catholic, she spoke of the many profound, lifelong blessings God has given her through faith, and, yes, even though her daily small troubles and unexpected joys. Above all, Cari told of the awakening of her love for the Eucharist, the deepening of her love for her husband and her children, and the humility and faith that these experiences have nurtured in her.
The Most Reverend John M. LeVoir Bishop of the New Ulm Diocese, celebrated Holy Mass. Following Mass new officers were installed. The day included many displays, silent auction, a business meeting, prayer and fellowship. The afternoon speakers were Sr. Anne Walch & Sr. Briana McCarthy, who presented “breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking”. Judy Haag was selected to receive this year’s Woman of the Year award. Judy is from Eden Valley and is a member of the Church of Our Lady of Manannah
Heartland Girls' Ranch
Through the Thanksgiving and Advent seasons, St. Edward CCW will be collecting "wish list" items for Heartland Girls' Ranch. They are our diocesan wide project this year. You can find out more just go to their website at: heartlandgirlsranch.org.. Call Jan Bot at 872-6534 with any questions.
Upcoming year Leader Openings
CCW (Council of Catholic Women) is in need of ladies to prayerfully consider saying "yes" to fill leadership roles for the upcoming year. CCW serves our parish family in several ways and we are inspired by our role model, the Blessed Mother. We are currently in need of a vice president and secretary. Our year runs from June 2017 to June of 2018. If you have questions, please feel free to call CCW President Jan Bot at 401-1167. Thank you!
CCW Legislative Committee: Congress is working to schedule a vote on a ill that will end tax payer funding for Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood opposes this legislation claiming that they provide needed services.
1. There are 9000 plus health care centers where low income women can receive care apart from Planned Parenthood
2. Planned parenthood performs 175 abortions for every adoption referral
3. Planned Parenthood afiliates agreed to a $4 million dollar settlement for Medicare fraud
